Kinesiology

RokStories

Kinesiology (pronounced Kin-easy-ology) is a system of natural healthcare that treats the person as a whole, physically, nutritionally, emotionally.  A method of analysis and treatment using muscle tests as communication between a person's body and practitioner.  It enables investigation without intrusion, accessing the bodies "computer" and gives insight to the underlying causes of health problems.

WHAT IS KINESIOLOGY?

Kinesiology offers a "whole person" approach to a natural system of healthcare which combines manual muscle testing with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  It is truly holistic, working with the inter-relationship of the body, mind and spirit, to bring them into balance and harmony, promoting health and wellbeing.

Strains, aches and pains are nature’s way of letting you know that something is wrong with your body.  It is important to listen to what your body is saying.  Kinesiology can help by finding the causes of the symptoms as they are not always obvious.  For example, back pain may be caused by muscles functioning incorrectly.  This muscular dysfunction may be due to a lack of particular vitamins or minerals, strained leg muscles, old forgotten injuries, emotional trauma or food sensitivity.  Kinesiology uses the body's own bio-feedback to help discover the true cause and appropriate treatment to relieve pain.

Imbalances are identified by monitoring a person’s ability to hold their muscles against light pressure.  Each muscle is related to an organ and also an energy pathway called a meridian.  Together the muscle, organ and meridian form a circuit.  If there are chemical, emotional, structural or energetic stresses affecting the circuit, the muscle will feel "spongy" which indicates an imbalance.
Once an imbalance is found, the muscle test is used to find out more information about what may be causing the problem and what can be used to help restore balance.

Restoring the balance could involve a variety of treatments including firm reflex massage, light touch of specific points, nutritional supplements, flower remedies, emotional stress release techniques and lifestyle or dietary changes.

WHY IS A HOLISTIC APPROACH IMPORTANT?

Kinesiology works with the whole body system, considering all aspects.  This is important to ensure that any condition is treated in every way, meaning the whole system is treated and not just the symptoms or parts of the condition.  Therefore, a holistic approach allows the body to fully restore its balance, i.e. become fully well and able to deal with the minor stressors that it has to cope with every day.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A TREATMENT?

In the first session a detailed history will be taken, followed by an assessment of the body involving the muscle tests, performed fully clothed while lying down on a treatment couch.  The practitioner tests muscle responses with gentle pressure to asses where and what imbalances are in the body and what is needed to address them.  This is the information gathering part.  Homeopathically charged test vials can be used to gather this information by placing them within the clients electromagnetic field and then testing a muscle response.  The frequencies from the vials may alter the response of the muscle being tested, enabling key imbalances to be identified.  This exciting breakthrough, came in Kinesiology, 15 years ago and allows us to gather more in- depth information than ever before.

Based on feedback from the tests, the Kinesiologist will devise a treatment plan including some of the recommendations as mentioned above.  The corrections are based on individual needs as found in the muscle tests, with the practitioner able to use the tests to prioritise meaning they do not have to guess at a diagnosis or form an opinion as to what treatment is required.

"AN INDIVIDUAL TREATMENT BECAUSE YOU ARE AN INDIVIDUAL"

HOW MANY TREATMENTS?

This depends on the nature of the complaint, how long a person has had the symptoms and how prepared they are to fully participate in their own treatment programme.  Most people experience improvements in 3 - 6 visits.  It is then usually recommended to participate in routine balances, 2 - 3 times a year as Kinesiology can help prevent illness by addressing imbalances before they present as symptoms. Taking out a maintenance contract really makes sense.  Health is our most precious possession; we should take care of it.

WHAT CAN KINESIOLOGY HELP?

Every health problem will have at least one imbalance.  And every imbalance will have at least one component to it (nutritional, emotional, physical or energetic).  Finding imbalances and addressing them holistically is the essence of Kinesiology.  So it can help with just about anything, allergies, anxiety, arthritis, asthma, bloating, bowel problems, Candida overgrowth, children’s behaviour problems, depression, digestive disorders, flatulence, food sensitivities, frequent infections, headaches, hyperactivity in children, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome, menopause, migraines,  premenstrual syndrome,  sinus problems, skin conditions, stress,  tired all the time syndrome, etc. etc.

If your problem is not above, remember that Kinesiology addresses the body as a whole, so most conditions can be substantially helped and relief obtained.

You can read all you like about Kinesiology but there is no substitute for trying it yourself.  You'll be amazed to see how it works.
