A Brief Look........Behind The Doors of Newport Complementary Health Clinic

“So what is it that you do Becki?”  This is the question that I’m asked all the time and to be honest, even after “doing it” for 17 years, it’s still a little tricky to explain!    Hypnotherapy, most people have an idea about, but Kinesiology, what’s that?   Having our website, www.newportcomplementaryhealthclinic.co.uk, is a great resource to aid understanding of what we do at the clinic, but I feel that it could be helpful to explain a little more about what goes on behind my door.

On a daily basis I treat clients with such diversity, that no two days are ever the same. I can go from clients presenting with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, to eczema, to menopausal symptoms, to panic attacks, to chronic fatigue, to re-occurent headaches.  The clients presenting with these symptoms can be male or female, ranging in age from new-born to my eldest client ever, of 94!

I have 2 main “tools” in my bag, but those 2 tools, Kinesiology and Hypnotherapy, are capable of allowing me to address potentially hundreds of issues that my clients present with.  2 tools may not sound much, but incorporated into those 2 main therapies are hours and hours of training at locations all around the country, with many different institutes and associations.  And 17 years of experience of working with the general public, listening to their needs and their problems, in order to help them get well.  I have always felt that offering too many therapies would confuse what I do best, so chose those that could offer the most holistic approach possible.  A balance of mind and body as it were.  And as most of my clients present to me by word of mouth, I’d like to think that I’m doing something right!

To remain in practice, I have to continually study and retrain throughout the year, updating my knowledge, proving to the governing bodies I am associated with, that I am worthy of their acknowledgement.  In the last 12 months for example I have taken on new testing and treatment methods using test vials, studied child health, the many faces of chronic pain, neurological health, stress and hormonal problems and studied advanced hypnotherapy regression techniques, to name a few. I also have to complete and submit a case study each year, which with the client’s permission is posted on my Kinesiology association’s website.  The aim?  To allow members of the public to view real cases, treatments and successes, giving them hope that they can be well again.   While continual study takes up a lot of precious time, it is necessary and vital to my practice.  I know my clients that have been loyal for many years would agree that the treatments I can offer them now are far superior to those I offered in 1994, due to all the extra training.

So why am I writing all this? Well for the same reasons that I am a complementary practitioner.  I am passionate in helping people to feel better than they do. I am also realistic; I no longer want to heal the world!   We all have a choice and hopefully the clients that come through my door have made the choice to be well.  I read recently, the words of an eminent American doctor who works with cancer patients, “that while there is still breath in the body, there is always hope”  Be realistic, but never give up hope of getting well, whatever your symptoms.
