When I first visited Mick, I had been suffering from a recurring stiff neck and corresponding headaches. After an initial consultation and chat, Mick diagnosed that my ailment was related to my poor posture and a product of the actions of my profession. Over 3 or 4 sessions Mick worked on correcting my posture with a series of gentle stretches. At each stage explaining what he was doing and why it would help. 4 years later I can honestly say I very rarely now suffer with either a stiff neck or the related headaches and when I do so I can normally "cure" myself with techniques Mick discussed during my treatment.
The last time I visited Mick I was suffering from chronic back pain, bought on by lifting my dog into the van but instigated by some very heavy manual work. The pain was so bad I struggled to get out of bed, having to roll onto the floor first and very slowly stand up. It took over an hour before I could walk anywhere near normally. I rang Mick and he was very sympathetic to my cause and stayed on late that evening to be able to see me. An initial sharp intake of breath upon seeing my posture did nothing to alleviate fears that I would not be taking part in a planned cycle ride over the Pyrenees in less than a week’s time. After 45minutes on "the table" Mick advised that my back was is such bad condition that I probably wouldn’t feel any better the following morning, but not only was I able to get up out of bed and stand immediately, the excruciating pain had almost gone. Knowing how much I wanted to take part in the cycle ride, Mick made time to fit me in for 2 more intensive sessions during the following week, and although he advised against it, I was able to ride and complete the Raid Pyrenean.
After setting a record in June 2009 by mountain biking around the Annapurna circuit in Nepal in 3 days I returned to the UK with a flu type virus. My summer was then plagued by recurring illnesses and fatigue and I took on the Raid Pyrenees in early September having done little or no training for close to 3 months. Although I completed the 400mile ride, upon return my feeling of fatigue had increased and the final straw came when I went down with my 4th serious bout of flu in 5 months. I contacted Becky and explained the situation and she was fairly sure that she could help. We sat and chatted about my lifestyle, diet, exercise routine, work, history etc. Becky then did a series of Kinesiology tests and diagnosed that I was suffering from Adrenal burnout. At the end of the session Becky recommended a number of dietary and life style changes, all that were easy to implement and that made total sense. That, together with some suggested specific supplements have slowly but surely helped to rebuild my immune system and energy levels. Instead of waking each morning still shattered, I’m now looking forward to the day ahead and still have enough energy left at the end of the day to be able to visit the gym!
